I initially thought that Avent really produces a different colored bottles coz this one I received is not clear, but brownish in color, until my pedia told me last week to throw away bottles that have been discolored already. I guess this particular item falls under that. I'm worried about the few times my baby had drank in that bottle. Refund processing..Satisfied with Amazon's quick response but definitely not satisfied with what happened.
Seems fine to me...

I have been testing this bottle out for my son who is almost 9 months. I wanted a larger bottle since he can now drink 8oz of milk, and this has worked fine. I'm on Amazon to purchase more of the honey colored, PES, 11oz bottle. I like it and I am pretty particular... I have not seen many 11oz bottles that are numbered to 11oz. I think the glazed honey tint looks nice too.
Leak, leak, leak!

I've been using Avent bottles for a couple of years. Should have just thrown them away. Not worth the money i am paying for them because most of them leak. I've been researching ways and different combinations with the teats, rings and bottles but could not find the problem. My sister is having the same problem with hers and they are new!
Buy the BPA-free Avent bottle made from Polypropylene (PPE) instead

Stop! Do not buy these "old" Avent BPA-free bottles. These are the honey-colored Polyether Sulphone (PES) bottles that, for whatever reason, leaks for many people. They come in yellow-colored boxes. Instead, buy the newer Avent BPA-free bottles made from the Polypropylene (PPE), which has a cloudy appearance. These newer PPE bottles don't leak. These newer PPE bottles come in blue-colored boxes.
One of the better bottles we've tried to date

We're on a product testing binge with our new baby. Born Free, Adiri, Medela, Nuby, etc.
This little gem doesn't look very fancy, but it turns out to be the best of the bunch we've tried yet.
The likes:
- Flow rate is the slowest of all the new-born bottles we've tried. Closer to the breast, makes baby have to work for it.
- Very simple bottle, unlike some other bottles, no finicky little pieces to mess around with. Just bottle, nipple and cap.
- Large, clear, easy to read volume markings. Very easy to measure quantities (you'd be surprised how many others screw this up). The printing on it so far has stood up to washing/sanitizing.
Complaints? Very minor.
- BPA free plastic, but is there anything else I should worry about? I'd prefer glass...
- Better nipple shape to mimic breast perhaps?
- *** Additional note: Other people we know have this and they say it ALWAYS leaks. I almost concur with them. For some reason, a lot of times, this bottle LEAKS like crazy. I usually end up having to open it up slightly and re-tighten and then it's okay. Since I use it at home only, it is a minor annoyance given the other plus points. But when I go out, I don't usually take this because it will leak and you'll lose fluid. So be warned...
Baby does not complain, so I think we'll probably be stocking up on more of these. |
